Dealing with a hot phone during daily use is common, but it can be prevented by managing resource use and avoiding external heat sources.

Here are the most effective ways to reduce your phone's temperature:

📱 Adjust Your Phone Settings

These changes reduce the load on your phone's processor and battery, which are the main sources of internal heat.

1. Reduce Screen Brightness: A brighter screen demands more power, generating more heat. Lower the brightness, or enable Auto-Brightness so your phone adjusts it based on your environment.

2. Close Unused Apps: Apps running in the background consume CPU and memory, causing unnecessary heat. Regularly close any apps you are finished using.

3. Disable Unnecessary Features: Turn off features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Location Services (GPS), and Mobile Hotspot when you are not actively using them. They constantly scan and use power.

4. Use Power Saving Mode: If your phone is running warm, enabling your device's battery or power-saving mode will restrict background activity and limit CPU performance, leading to lower temperatures.

5. Update Software and Apps: Manufacturers and developers frequently release updates that include bug fixes and performance optimizations, making the software run more efficiently and, in turn, cooler.

6. Switch to a Static Wallpaper: Live or animated wallpapers continuously use the GPU and CPU, generating extra heat. Use a static image instead.

🌡️ Manage External Heat and Charging

Your phone's environment and charging habits play a significant role in its temperature.

1. Avoid Direct Sunlight and Hot Environments: Never leave your phone in direct sunlight, on a car dashboard, or near other heat sources (like a radiator or oven). High external temperatures prevent your phone from dissipating heat effectively.

2. Remove the Case (Temporarily): If your phone is already hot, removing its case allows heat to escape more quickly and improves airflow. Thick or rubberized cases are particularly prone to trapping heat.

3. Charge Correctly:

  • Avoid using your phone for intensive tasks (like streaming or gaming) while it is charging, as charging itself generates heat.

  • Charge your phone on a hard, flat surface (like a table) rather than a soft surface (like a bed or sofa) to ensure proper ventilation.

  • Use the original or manufacturer-approved charger and cable. Faulty or incompatible chargers can cause overheating.

⚠️What to Do When Your Phone is Already Hot

If your phone is actively overheating and uncomfortable to hold, take these immediate steps:

1. Stop Using It: Immediately close any running apps and stop the current activity.

2. Remove the Case: Take the case off to allow the heat to dissipate faster.

3. Move to a Cooler Location: Place the phone in a shaded or cool, well-ventilated area.

4. Turn Off or Use Airplane Mode: Temporarily turning your phone Off or switching to Airplane Mode will instantly stop all background processes, cellular radio use, and most power consumption, allowing it to cool down rapidly.

DO NOT put your hot phone in a refrigerator or freezer. The sudden and extreme temperature change can cause condensation to form inside the device, leading to permanent liquid damage.

If your phone continues to overheat frequently even after implementing these tips, it could indicate a deeper issue like an aging battery, malware, or hardware damage. In that case, please back up your data in advance and visit the nearest realme service center with your purchase certificate.
