Like most electronic products, phones use system resources such as the processor and memory to run applications. realme phones use intelligent resource scheduling to dynamically allocate performance based on your needs, ensuring a smooth experience. You can use your device with peace of mind.

I. Identifying Normal vs. Abnormal Hang

Normal Hang

  • Symptoms: Brief drops in frame rate during high-load tasks (such as launching large games, "cold starting" apps, or switching between many background apps) or when the battery is low (below 20%).

  • How to handle: This is a normal part of system resource allocation. Usually, you only need to wait a few seconds or charge the phone for it to recover. No further action is required.

Abnormal Hang (Action Required)

  • Symptoms: Frequent and obvious delays in basic interfaces like the home screen or dialer; the system stops responding for more than 5 seconds; or the lag is accompanied by touch failure, freezing, or automatic restarts.

  • Emergency handling: Restart your phone. If the problem persists after restarting, please contact a realme Service Center for an inspection.

II. General Solutions: Quick Fixes and Long-term Maintenance

A. Quick Fixes: How to resolve the current lag immediately

If your phone feels slow or unresponsive, try these steps to resolve it quickly:

1. Clear background apps and restart your phone

Running too many apps in the background uses up memory (RAM). Swipe up to the multi-tasking view and tap the "Clear" button to free up memory. If the phone is still not smooth, we recommend restarting it to clear deep caches and abnormal processes.

2. Lower the device temperature

High temperatures trigger system protection mechanisms, which reduce the processor speed and cause lag. If your phone feels hot, stop using high-load apps, remove the protective case, and move the phone to a cool, ventilated place. Smoothness will return once the temperature is normal.

B. Long-term Prevention: Keeping your phone smooth from the start

To keep your phone running smoothly over time, we recommend the following habits:

1. Keep sufficient storage space

Low storage (less than 20% remaining) will significantly slow down system performance. Use the "Phone Manager" app regularly to clean up junk files, uninstall unused apps, and back up large files to the cloud or a computer.

2. Keep the system and apps updated

Go to Settings > About Device > Tap the UI card at the top to update your system to the latest version. New versions often include performance and stability optimizations. Also, keep your apps updated in the App Market to avoid compatibility issues.

3. Use Phone Manager for regular maintenance

We recommend using the "Phone Manager" app once a week and selecting "Optimize." This helps identify hidden system risks, manage power-draining apps, and clear file fragments to keep the system healthy.
